For over 25 years Vito and Teresa Siragusa have
been serving five-star Italian cuisine in San Diego County. In
honor of their consistently gracious and authentic dining atmosphere
and service to the community Vito and Teresa have been given a
Proclamation by County Supervisor Dianne Jacob highlighting both
their career and personal accomplishments.

PROCLAMATION

Honoring Vito and Terry Siragusa
Whereas, Vito and Terry Siragusa
have been providing East County residents with the finest Italian
dining experiences for more than 25 years; and
Whereas, at the age of 25, Vito
Siragusa immigrated to the United States, arrived on New Year's
day, 1961, and begun work at the famous Mamma Leone's Restaurant
in New York City; and
Whereas, after two short years,
Vito Siragusa opened the Vito of Capri Pizza Parlor; and
Whereas, in early 1964 Vito met
Maria Teresa "Terry" Napoli in Brooklyn,
married her on April 12th of that same year, and they have been
blessed with four multi-talented children: Caterina, Anna-Maria,
Stephen, and Frank; and
Whereas, in 1972, Vito and Terry
moved away from the snow to the San Fernando Valley in sunny Southern
California, and spent four years there, before moving to San Diego
County to open Leone's Italian Ristorante in Lemon Grove; and
Whereas, after eight successful
years in Lemon Grove, they moved the restaurant to the Valhalla
Village in Rancho San Diego, renamed it DiLeone's, and delighted
diners with excellent Italian food for nearly 18 years, and
Whereas, on September 15, 2001,
the restaurant moved again to a larger space at the corner of
Granite Hills and Jamacha Road, and a grand re-opening celebration
was held on October 15, 2001; and
Whereas, Vito and Terry have generously
contributed pizzas and other favorite foods to various East County
elementary, middle, and high schools for 25 years; and
Whereas, the County of San Diego
is committed to recognizing and honoring the many fine individuals
throughout the region that dedicate themselves to the betterment
of the community, and Vito and Terry Siragusa are two such caring
and worthy individuals; Now Therefore,
Be It Proclaimed by Chairman Bill
Horn and all members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors
on this 12 day of December 2001 that they commend VITO
AND TERRY SIRAGUSA for 25 years of outstanding service,
leadership, and commitment to East County residents, and, do hereby
declare that this day to be "VITO AND TERRY SIRAGUSA
DAY" throughout San Diego County.
